Anxiety Therapy in Edinburgh

Finding your ground in an anxious world.

If you’re living with anxiety, you already know how exhausting it is. The racing thoughts at three in the morning. The tight chest and the knotted stomach. The endless what-ifs, and the quiet voice telling you to avoid the very things and people you love. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people come to see me, yet in the middle of it, it can feel like you’re the only one.

Here’s something worth knowing: your anxiety isn’t a flaw. It’s your system trying its best to protect you. The trouble is that this protection can get stuck on, leaving you in a state of high alert long after the moment has passed. That can change.

How I work with anxiety:

Talking about your worries matters, but with anxiety it’s rarely enough on its own, because anxiety lives in the body as much as the mind. In our sessions we work with both. You’ll begin to understand what sets your anxiety off and what keeps it going, and just as importantly, your body will start to remember what safety actually feels like.

This isn’t about forcing yourself to relax or thinking your way out of fear. It’s about gently building your capacity to stay grounded, so anxious thoughts and sensations can come and go without taking over. Along the way you’ll pick up practical tools you can use anywhere: in the meeting, on the bus, at three in the morning.

 Anxiety I commonly work with:

• Constant, generalised worry that won’t switch off
• Panic attacks, and the fear of the next one
• Social anxiety and self-consciousness
• Workplace stress and performance pressure
• Health anxiety
• Anxiety rooted in past trauma or big life changes

Taking the first step:

Therapy isn’t about living a life free of fear. It’s about becoming larger than your anxiety, so it stops making your choices for you.

I offer a free initial consultation, a relaxed chat about what you’re experiencing and how we might work together. I see clients in person in Leith and Newington, Edinburgh, and online across the UK and around the world.
